You can use almost any SMTP mail server to send e-mails. Firstly you will need to configure your e-mail settings. This can be done via the Utilities > Configure Email menu option.
It is recommended that you contact an IT professional if you have questions about what settings you need to add to be able to send e-Mail via e-PayDay®. If you already have an e-Mail client such as Microsoft Outlook setup the required settings may be obtained from there.
The SMTP server :
The SMTP server value is required. This is sometimes referred to as the Outgoing mail server address with other mail clients.
Port :
The Port value is required and has to be numeric, the default value is 25.
This server requires an encrypted connection (TLS/SSL)
The This server requires an encrypted connection (TLS/SSL) tick box should be ticked if the server requires a secure connection. SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer and TLS stands for Transport Layer Security.
Username:
The Username and Password values are optional. These are optional values as not all e-Mail servers require a Username and Password to connect to the e-Mail server and send e-Mails.
Password:
The Username and Password values are optional. These are optional values as not all e-Mail servers require a Username and Password to connect to the e-Mail server and send e-Mails.
Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)
The Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) tick box should be ticked if the server requires a secure password to connect to the e-Mail server.
From Address
The From Address value is required it is the e-Mail address of the mailbox which e-Mail's will be sent via e-PayDay®.
From Name
The From Name value is optional, it is the friendly display name that some mail clients will replace the e-Mail address with. When either displaying e-Mails in a list or when an individual e-Mail is opened.
To Address
The To Address value is required but only for testing the e-Mail settings. It is recommended to NOT use the same e-Mail address as the From Address as sometimes the e-Mail server will allow sending e-Mails to the same mailbox without any issues.
To Name
The To Name value is optional, it is the friendly display name that some mail clients will replace the e-Mail address with. When either displaying e-Mails in a list or when an individual e-Mail is opened.
Log e-Mail after processing
Finally there is a Log e-Mail after processing tick box this will save ALL e-Mail actions to a log file in the e-PayDay directory if the tick box is ticked. The file will be called PayDayeMail.Log it can be viewed with notepad or any kind of word processing application. Note that Test e-Mail's actions are not saved to the log file.
You should click Save when testing that way the settings will not be lost if you close the application. You can undo previous changes that not be saved yet by clicking Undo Changes. Also clicking Exit tool will close the SendEmail application.
