e-PayDay® can be installed on one or more workstations where each workstation is looking at another computer which holds the data folder(s). This "other" computer usually is the server but may very well be one of the multiple workstations.
The first thing to do is to run a stand alone installation on one of the workstations. During this process make sure of the following
1. Choose Stand alone installation as the installation type.
2. Make sure the program path is the same as the data path and that these are BOTH on the C Drive. In other words the folder that contains the executable file
(e-PayDay.exe) also contains the data folder(s).
Then make a copy of the folder which you installed on that workstation and place it on the C: drive of any other workstation and server that e-PayDay® (or part there of) is to reside. Make sure the computer that is to hold the data folder(s) has it's hard drive mapped as a letter name to each of the workstations that e-PayDay® is to be run from.
Run a full installation on each workstation according to the following provisions.
1. Choose Stand alone installation as the installation type
2. The program path will be the folder that you copied onto this machine that contains the exe file
3. The data path will be the folder on the server (or other workstation) which is designated to contain the data folder(s). If this IS the workstation will also contain the data
folders(s) then the data path will be the same as the program path.
Example;
1. Let's assume that a stand alone installation has been run a particular workstation (workstation A). The program path and data path were both set to
C:\Program Files\e-PayDay®. This means that in the C: drive there is a folder called 'Program Files' and in that, there is a folder called 'e-PayDay'. This latter folder
will contain the executable file (e-PayDay®.exe) and the data folder(s). We'll also assume that the company('s) have been set up and registered.
2. The next thing we'll assume is that the server has been mapped as 'S' drive on all workstations
3. Sitting in front of workstation A, open up Windows Explorer and right hand click on the 'e-PayDay®' folder sitting in 'Program Files' folder. Select 'Copy'
4. Now open up the S: drive and double click on the 'Program Files' folder. If there isnt one, then create one.
5. Click on the 'Edit' menu up the top, and select 'Paste'. This will put a copy of the e-PayDay® folder on the server in it's 'Program Files' folder.
6. Repeat steps 3 to 5 until a copy of that original 'e-PayDay®' folder is sitting in the 'Program Files' folder on any other workstation's C: drive which is to also run e-PayDay®.
7. Run a full installation on each of the other workstations insuring that
a) "Stand alone installation" is chosen as the installation type
b) 'C:\Program Files\e-PayDay®' is selected as the program path
c) 'S:\Program Files\e-PayDay®' is selected as the parent data path
The process above insures that company information doesn't have to be entered on each of the workstations.
