Restoring from backups in e-PayDay® is achieved via the Restore Wizard. To access the wizard, click on the word Utilities at the top of the main screen and then select 'Restore my Data'.

 

The restore wizard will expecting to find a file called backup.zip in the location you point it to. It cant restore from a copy of the original e-PayDay® directory.

If restoring from LiveStor you must first recover a backup file from LiveStor and copy it into the Archived Backups folder for the relevant company in e-PayDay® then follow the instructions for Restore my Data.

 

Step 1

 

To proceed press Next.

Step 2

 

Choose the location of the backup.zip file. Either choose Internet (LiveStor), Floppy Disk A or Floppy Disk B, Other or Archived Backup and browse to the drive and folder it is located in.

 

Click Next to continue.

Step 3

 

Click Next to begin the actual restoring of the backup.

The screen below will appear. It asking you to confirm that no other windows (eg Employee List Screen) are open in the background, and no other users are in this company over the network. Click OK to confirm and proceed with the restore. Go to step 4 below.

If you are restoring into a newly installed workstation then the screen below might appear instead. e-PayDay® remembers where the data folder was located from which the backup.zip file was made. During the restore it will look for the data folder to be in the same place. If it cant find it then the message below appears. This most commonly occurs when restoring data after a re-install on a new computer or re-formatted hard drive. e-PayDay® has been installed into a different place to where it was on the old hard drive. The path quoted at the end of the message is where the data folder is located now. Write this path down. Click 'OK' to continue.

The next screen that appears has an option to 'select the data folder'. Click on this option.

The screen below now asks for which folder to restore the backup into. Select the current data folder for the company you are restoring for, then click 'OK'

Step 4

 

After the restore procedure has finished, then select 'Yes' or 'No' to restore another company.
