Time in Lieu (TIL)

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Instead of being paid in monetry terms, and employee can be "paid in time". An example would be where an employee works 5 hours overtime. He doesn't receive monetry payment for that extra time worked, but accrues 5 hrs TIL. Then a couple of weeks later the employee elects to leave 5 hours earlier from work one day. He has 5 hrs up his sleeve in TIL, so the boss pays him for a full day's work and his TIL balance is reduced by 5 hrs.

TIL is set up in e-PayDay® via 2 pay rates. One to accrue the TIL and the other to take it off, as per below.

Accruing TIL

00000179

Type

TIL is set up as a pay rate.

Description

Ultimately up to the user, but something pertaining to the fact this pay rate is for accruing TIL

Paid by

TIL is paid in hours.

Value

This is to be a percentage. The TIL balance will go up in hours by that percentage of  the hours input into the qty field for this pay rate in the pay envelope. In other

words, if I had 150% as the value, then for every hour of "overtime", the TIL

balance would go up by 1.5 hrs.

Pay Rate Type

Usually overtime, but up to the user's discretion. This field describes the nature of the work performed to accrue the TIL.

Report to

Given that this is a pay rate, we have to choose from the drop list whichever is appropriate.

Accruals

TIL must be ticked.  If any of the other boxes are ticked, they too will accrue.

TIL and e-Leave™

When TIL is taken, as in example 2, an e-Leave™ message box appears in the pay envelope asking for the dates when the TIL was taken. Confirm the dates, and click on 'OK'. After finalisation of the payrun, these dates will be posted back to the employee's e-Leave™ TAB in their employee details. For more information see e-Leave™
